The group\u2019s research focuses on methods from machine learning, statistics, probability theory, causality and psychology, to solve problems and challenges presented by scale, complexity and variability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the group members work with practitioners to produce predictive and explainable decision models, that often combine machine learning with human causal knowledge, with application to a wide range of domains including medical, legal, engineering, bioinformatics, security, sports, economics, risk and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years the group has attracted millions of research funding from organisations such as the EPSRC, ERC, UKRI, Royal Society, Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), Royal Academy of Engineering, Yahoo, Library and Information Commission and the British Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Causal XAI Workshop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday 26 October 2023. It first took place in 2014, and then in 2021. Queen Mary University of London is ranked 8th in Computer Science and Informatics and 7th in Engineering in the UK. In particular, our notable achievements include being joint 1st in Impact for Computer Science and Informatics and being ranked 2nd in Output for Engineering.
